The Big One...Week 9 Term 4

KAYA,

It is incredibly hard to believe that this is the final week of Primary School for your children. I think I am in denial, I sit back and reflect on the year and can't believe we have reached this point already! Whilst I am sad to be saying goodbye this week, I know the students are grateful for what they have had at OLC and are ready with excitement to move on.

Sorry this blog is not so exciting, it covers a bit of housekeeping for the busy week ahead.

WEEK 9 INFORMATION!

GRADUATION
The mass will commence this Friday 10th December in our hall at 9am. It is expected to run for approximately 1hour and 30mins, with a morning tea outside the hall to follow. The students are to wear their formal summer uniform to this event.

Can you please ensure you arrive 15 mins before the start, so you can find your seat and settle. There are only 2 allocated seats next to your child for parents to sit and then limited extra seating at the back for extended family and friends. Please be aware that standing may occur at sides of the hall, depending on the numbers attending. All are welcome. Please contact me if you have any further questions about the Mass.

The students will have an opportunity after the Graduation morning tea to get their Leaver's Shirts signed, please ensure they have brought this in. It is a going to be a beautiful morning, the students have been working hard to make it special for all.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Christmas Concert is taking place this Tuesday 7th December. It commences at 6pm, so please ensure that your child is here in their classroom at 5:40pm. As a class we will walk down together and into our places, while you can find a nice spot on the hill. As mentioned in our lastest blogs, the students have been asked to wear Christmas colours and any other Christmas trimmings, such as hats, antlers, earrings, tinsel, etc.

Please Note: dance crew and school choir are to wear predominantly white.

EXCURSION EXTRAVAGANZA
Thursday 9th December is our excursion day, a note was sent home a couple of weeks ago with the details.

The timetable is as follows:
9am - Depart OLC to arrive at Gravity at 10am
10-11am - On hour bouncathon at Gravity
11am - Depart Gravity and head to the foreshore in Busselton for lunch
12 - 1pm - Fish and chips from Equinox on the foreshore in Busselton
(Parents and volunteers are most welcome to join us at this point)
1 - 2pm - Golf at Par 3 in Busselton
2.15pm - Depart for Simmo's Ice Creamery
2.45pm - Arrive at Simmo's for an ice-cream and goodbyes
3.15pm - Parent pick up

Pick up will be at Simmos Ice Creamery no later than 3.15pm, we will not be heading back to the school. Therefore, you will need to arrange for your child to be picked up at Simmos.

Children will need to wear free dress (appropriate for the activities planned) on this day and please ensure they have a packed recess, snack, OLC school hat and water bottle (full of water). Please get students to put on sunscreen before leaving home that morning and we will reapply throughout the day.

IMPORTANT...For our Gravity visit, Gravity requires the students to wear their socks. Therefore, if your child does not have a pair of Gravity socks already, they will need to bring $3 on the day to purchase these.

Thank you to our wonderful helpers who have offered to help and supervise groups on the day. We will meet you at the Busselton Foreshore at 12pm for lunch.

Please get in touch if you have any additional questions. We are looking to have a fun day with the students and celebrate their growth and success this year.

COLOUR RUN
On Friday 10th December the Colour Run will take place at 2pm. The students have been sent home with a form to raise money for new school and sports equipment. These are due back on this day.

As we have Graduation earlier that morning the students will need to bring in a change of clothes for the colour run, as they will be wearing their formal summer uniform in the morning. It may be a good idea to also have your child pack a towel and a reusable bag for any wet or coloured items at the end.

ST VINNIES DONATIONS
A reminder that we are collecting Christmas food and decorative items...if you can please have them in by Wednesday, we would be very appreciative! Many families have contributed, however if you haven't as yet it is a great yet simple way to give back during the festive season.

SECRET SANTA
You received a text about a week ago from Miss Hurst regarding a student led initiative in the year 6 classrooms for the students to purchase a small gift gift for a designated peer. The students agreed on $10 as the maximum amount of money for this gift, the suggestions were chocolate bar, Christmas stocking, crafts items or high bounce balls, etc. Can you please ensure that your child bring their gift no later than Wednesday.

BOOKS
These will be coming home in stages this week. Can you please make sure that your child has packed a reusable bag for each day to make life easier for all and to ensure that all is not left until the last day.

CLEANING
We will be cleaning our drawers, tables and chairs on Wednesday morning at 8.40am. If you are able to come in assist for an hour when you do drop off, we would be so grateful to have an extra pair of hands and eyes on the students. Thanking you in advance😊

I look forward to seeing you all at the Christmas Concert on Tuesday...

Many thanks,

Mrs Ricciardone & Mrs Murphy
