Important Notice: Operation Christmas Child

Image
Kaya, We hope your week has started well and you are making the most of the glimpses of sunshine that we are getting.  This is not a regular post, however it was important to get out this information straight away... OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD It's that time of year that we participate in the 'Operation Christmas Child' shoe box initiative that has been a wonderful OLC tradition for many years and reflects our school value of Compassion so well. These shoe boxes are sent to underprivileged children throughout the world as a gift for Christmas. The children will be placed into in groups of four and between them, they will fill a shoebox with a variety of items. The items do not need to be expensive. Each child in the group will be asked to cover the cost of sending the shoebox to its final destination. We ask them to bring in $2.50 each. The children will be given time in the classroom to pack the shoebox and explore some of the places that their shoe boxes may be travelling

Kaya, This blog has been expertly created by Mahley Garcia and Georgie Leahy, and I am sure you will agree that they have done a wonderful job.  Did you know that in the season of Djilba (the noongar season we are currently in) is a great time to grow potatoes and radishes and camp in sheltered bays and waterways? Welcome to Georgie  and Mahley’s Blog   😊😎 This week we have been doing a investigation in Math, while in Writing we have been learning some new language features to make our writing even better, like using emotive language, hyperbole (exaggeration) and there is a few more… But a highlight of the week was measuring our final long jump and triple jump. Kaya, I hope you are enjoying this incredible Djilba weather! Beautiful sunny days have definitely changed the moods in the Ricciardone household...Saturday sport has never been so good! Good luck to both the West Coast and Docker supporters today in the Derby. Due to living with a family of dockers...purple is the colour of choice in this household, but as a former West Coast supporter I won't be sad either way! πŸ‘ WELL DONE... πŸ‘ A huge congratulations goes out to the whole school on such a successful Mission Market Day. The day started with a beautiful mass ran by Mrs Meyer, where she proceeded to reflect on how far the school has come in its 25 years. After recess, the year sixes stood up as true leaders and ran the most successful stalls so far, their engagement and responsibility was admired by many teachers. The hair spray and nail painting stalls were POPULAR...with lines that went on for days! We couldn't have done it without all of the generous donations received, whi

Week 3 Term 3 Reminders

Kaya, Welcome to the season of Djilba, the season of conception. This is when the days start to move from cold to cool and less wet weather, fingers crossed we start to see some sun again. I hope you've had a great day!  Proud Teacher Moment... Words can not express how proud we were of all the students yesterday at the Confirmation Mass. Whilst I know it was early and went for longer than expected, you all showed incredible spirit and support for one another by being present. I can not believe how many comments and remarks I have had celebrating the maturity, reverence and commitment the children made to this sacrament. Every part was performed perfectly, I hope it is something they cherish for years to come. So many students commented on how impressed their parents were with their artwork and biographies, what a delight to hear them talk about it being all worth it. AUGUST BIRTHDAYS: Imogen King - 21st August Tara Tutt- 28th August Happy Birthday to you all, we hope you have a wo
