 Kaya,

This blog has been expertly created by Mahley Garcia and Georgie Leahy, and I am sure you will agree that they have done a wonderful job.

Did you know that in the season of Djilba (the noongar season we are currently in) is a great time to grow potatoes and radishes and camp in sheltered bays and waterways?

Welcome to Georgie and Mahley’s Blog 😊😎

This week we have been doing a investigation in Math, while in Writing we have been learning some new language features to make our writing even better, like using emotive language, hyperbole (exaggeration) and there is a few more… But a highlight of the week was measuring our final long jump and triple jump.

Random Fact

⭐⭐Star Citizen Award⭐⭐
Well done to Tara Tutt for receiving our 6R Star Citizen for Respect for Term 3. Here is what she received it for...

You bring a special dimension to our class and set an incredible example amongst your peers. We are always delighted by the maturity you use to show RESPECT not only to others and the environment, but more importantly to yourself! You are one of the first to show active listening, beautiful manners and assist your class mates in their time of need. You are a compassionate and loving friend who shows a genuine interest in caring for those around you. One of your greatest gifts is your ability to make everyone feel involved and loved, you do this so effortlessly and it has not gone unnoticed. Congratulations on being our Star Citizen for Term 3.

Week 5 Term 3 Learning

📜Writing📜
In Writing we are learning new and different language types to put into our amazing writing such as emotive language, alliteration, rhetorical questions, exaggeration and rule of three. We are also learning the structure of a persuasive text and how to make our sentences sound fabulous.

In week 6, we will be writing a letter to the OLC staff about a healthy living campaign that we believe that they should enforce in their week. We will also be making a poster about this campaign on Canva the online program, these posters will be hung up around the school.

🎲Maths🎲
In Math's groups we have been doing an investigation which involved identifying whether whispering to a dice will change the likelihood of something happening like rolling a six, well of course we found that is FALSE after our investigation. The six had the same probability every time we rolled it and it came down to chance with the result we received and because of this, many of us had different results.

On Friday we were given the challenge to create our own probability board game that we will be able to play with our parents on Wednesday afternoon at Parent Opening Night.

⚽Religion🏀
In religion we are learning about kids in Thailand who use sock balls instead of soccer balls or basketballs. To help us gain an appreciation on how lucky we are to have quality sports equipment, and give us an insight into how it would be to use sock balls for sport, on Monday we made our own sock balls and on Tuesday and Wednesday all we could use in daily fitness, recess and lunch were those sock balls we made. It definitely made us more appreciative and aware of how lucky we are. We also created some new games and actually ended up enjoying ourselves. Here is a photo of some sockballs WE created:

Design and Tech
In Design and Tech this week we started to design our indigenous area including garden beds for native food and plants, totem poles, stone paths, a Mia Mia, a shelter and a six seasons mural.
