Ellensbrook Homestead Excursion

Dear Parents,

RE: Ellensbrook Homestead Excursion – Tuesday 21st September

As part of our ongoing journey to learn more about local Wadandi Culture and Country, we are delighted to let you know that we will be heading to Margaret River to visit Ellensbrook Homestead. This will also include a small section of the Cape-to-Cape Track (2km). Onsite we will learn about the dual rich history of the area including both Wadandi history and early settlement history, as well as the flora and fauna that is found in the area and its significance to the Six Seasons.

Our itinerary will be approximately the follows:

10.15am – Departure from OLC

11.00am – Arrival at Ellensbrook Homestead and Acknowledgement of Country

11.00am – Morning Tea break

11.15am – Rotations including the following:

                                                                   1. Ellensbrook Homestead Tour

                                                                   2.Story of Meekadarribee

                                                                   3. Flora Art Experience

                                                                   4. Responding to Sandra Hill Art (Scavenger Hunt)

12.45pm – 1.15pm - Lunch

1.15pm – 2pm – Cape to Cape walking experience

2pm - 2.45pm – Departure and Arrival to OLC

The students will be split into four smaller groups and then they will complete the walking experience as a whole class.

Children will need to wear their sports uniform on this day and please ensure that they packed their recess, lunch, OLC school hat and water bottle. If the weather turns out to be wet and rainy, students will need to bring a rain jacket or umbrella as the areas are uncovered.

We are looking for 2 parent helpers per class to come along to supervise a group. We hope that it is okay, but you will need to meet us there as the bus is at capacity.

Please get in touch if you have any additional questions.

Kind Regards,

Sandy Ricciardone and Anita Hurst.
