Term 4 Week 5 - Half way through already!

 Kaya,

Can you believe that we are heading into week 5 already, I cannot believe I have only half a term left to spend time with our beautiful 6R family. Hopefully the weekend has been restful and given your families a chance to recharge and reconnect ready for another great week.

There was lots happening last week at OLC. Including celebrating our first OLC Wellbeing Week, this included sound healing, yoga sessions, square breathing, mindfulness colouring and a bush walk. Last week also included some very funky dance moves with our OLC Silent Disco on Friday night. Thank you to the P&F for arranging such a fun night for the students. 💃💃💃

⭐⭐Merit Awards⭐⭐

Well done to Mia and Taya for receiving our 6R Merit Awards for week 4 Term 4.

Mia has been a welcomed asset to OLC this year and has used every bit of GRIT and resilience to transition seamlessly into our 6R family. It is a pleasure having her apart of the class.

Taya received hers for her organisation efforts and the extra commitment she is putting into her Measurement Math with Mrs Murphy on a Thursday. Taya consistently works hard to produce high quality piece of work that demonstrate the pride she is taking in her work. Well done girls!

Term 4 Week 4 Learning:

Technologies
In Technologies this week we started to design and build our game controllers, most of the students had to take their designs home to complete, this is due next Thursday so that we can then hook up the designs to a circuit board and check that the controls work. Well done to the students that completed their task on Thursday, what creative and innovative designs. Some future tech entrepreneurs in the class. Thank you to the P&F for fundraising to get our class 5 sets of Makey Makey kits.

Did you hear that we are very close to finishing our amazing Aboriginal Garden? Next time you are at school please pop down to pay it a visit.

Term 4 Week 5 Information:

Year 6 Gift - Aboriginal Mural
Our year 6 students are very lucky that next week they will be starting to work on their gift to the school with some of our awesome parents. The amazing Jordanna Hall is liaising and organising the wonderful work on the aboriginal mural on the water tanks at the back of the school. We were very fortunate that the local firefighters paid a visit to the school on Wednesday afternoon to clean down the tank ready for priming. Thank you all for your time and effort on this project, we appreciate all of you

Can you please make sure that your child gets sent with an art shirt for this project. This can be an old shirt, an apron, etc?

Pupil Free day
A reminder that there is a pupil free day on Friday 12 November. The staff will be creating our School Improvement Plan for 2022, work on our school Vision for learning, analyse our NAPLAN and PAT test data and school strategic plan.

Remembrance Day
On Thursday 11 November at 11am we will hold a special ceremony, led by Mr Jones’ Year 5 class to remember all those who have died in war. We pray that we keep alive the memories of those who laid down their life for the sacred cause of freedom. Parents are most welcome to attend the assembly.

Graduation PowerPoint
I am are hoping that you can find and email me a photo of your child as a baby and/or toddler. We would like to create a PowerPoint for Graduation with these special photos, as well as others from their time at OLC. If you have any ripper photos from your child's time at OLC, we would greatly appreciate any donations. Please email them through so I can get onto this job as soon as I can.

Character Strengths
Dear Parents, currently at OLC we are focusing on modeling and observing different character strengths. The strengths that we will focus on are taken directly from the VIA Institute for Character. If you wanted to learn more about this please follow the link to the 24 character strengths: https://www.viacharacter.org/character-strengths
This upcoming week we are looking for people who show Preservance. Can you encourage your child to reflect on the following?
