Learning From Week 9 of Term 2:

Writing:
We have been learning about how to write extraordinary information reports, something different to what we have written in the past. We have placed a large focus on techniques such as, extending vocabulary, elaborating on ideas to develop the sub-topic well, creating cohesive sentences that link to one another and create greater flow, experiment connecting ideas with a variety of transition words and use structures for each paragraph to ensure they are written well.

Here’s what we did throughout the week:

Monday: Continuing our learning about writing introductions and planned for our own Information report.

Tuesday: Learn about and write a conclusion plan. Also research our South-West animal.

Wednesday: Start writing our draft (We wrote this blog during a writing session)

Thursday: Break

Friday: Continued writing our draft.

Dance
This was our second-last ever school dance lesson, and our last practise for our dance in two weeks! The dance really lives up to its name…

STEM/Technologies
We finished off and used our solar ovens this week! Here are some of the amazing designs that cooked delicious s’mores. On Friday between recess and lunch, we were blessed with sunshine and thus able to put out our solar ovens...we were happy to report back that most of us had melted chocolate and some of us (depending on our design) soggy marshmallows too. YUM YUM!!

Sports Lessons
We have began a new initiative where we, in small groups, will have the opportunity to run a short 30 min sports session on a Friday. This will give us a chance to show off our wonderful leadership, communication, team work and sporting skills, all in one! On Friday we had 3 students (Zayne, Cooper, and Flynn) put together an amazing sports lesson (that we will sadly finish next week, as we did not have enough time) on the game Chair Dodge. It’s a fun game...and the team that I was on won all 3 games!!

All in all, this was a fun and exiting week! STEM, Sports, Writing, Dance… All very fun!

Week 9 Important Information:

Bitmoji Image
Thank you to the wonderful parents of the choir children who sacrificed part of their weekend to take their child to the Hannay Lane opening, as well as, the Reconciliation Mass on Saturday night. The choir were an absolute standout and truly brighten up the Mass.
This Sunday 27th June we have the Year 4 Eucharist Mass at 8.30am, and whilst I know it is incredibly early, if anyone is available and able to attend to support the Year 4's in this special sacrament it would be very much appreciated. I look forward to hearing those beautiful voices again at mass on Sunday.
