Welcome to Week 6

Good morning all,

I'm back on deck and feeling good!

I have just realised that we are now super close to the finish line and it's that time of year where no matter how hard I try to slow everything down it is just not going to happen! With reports on the go, musical next week, graduation around the corner and our final excursion less than a month away, I feel that I am going to be constantly running...so apologies if I do miss something along the way. Please let me know if I do, and I'll get on top of it straight away!

On Friday the students had a lovely day at the Cricket Blaster Carnival with Mrs Martin. The students represented the school well with plenty of talented cricketers amongst us I hear. They were so lucky the weather held out...what a nice way to spend a day out of the classroom.

As we were away for the assembly last week, we have missed celebrating a Merit Award and Star Citizen. These will be caught up this Friday, what a big day it will be for 6R!

On a more serious note...

It has come to my attention that there are a number of students who are on various social media platforms at the moment outside of school. Unfortunately some interactions have led to negative ramifications that have fed back into our learning space at school. Can I please ask that you check in with your child and remind them of the appropriate use of technology when interacting with others.

WEEK 6 REMINDERS

Vinnies Hamper Appeal - This is a fantastic initiative that our school does every year in which we as a school community are asked to donate an item or two that can be used to help out some local families.

Year 6's are being asked to donate toiletry items such as shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, tooth brushes, hair lackeys etc. If you are able to, it would also be great if we could add in some extra yummies...think Christmas lunch (non perishable) at your place! Decorations are always a good filler as well!

Musical Information - PLEASE THE LETTER FROM MRS HORROCKS BELOW:

Dear Parents,

Just wanting to touch base on news of the very soon to be musical! As you know, the children have spent many rehearsals in readiness for the big day and I’m happy with what they have accomplished in our time limit.

We are performing our matinee for the school on this coming Tuesday, 24th at 1.45pm. Our big performance is on the Friday, 27th at 7pm. We would have loved to put on the show for 2 nights after all this work, however, because of time restraints it is not to be.

Wednesday, this week, is a full dress rehearsal so children will need to be prepared to wear costumes with cool and comfortable attire underneath. I recommend Bathers for girls or shorts and singlet tops and same for boys. Socks will need to be worn with costumes please:

Elephants. Grey

Cheetahs. Black

Hyenas. Grey

Monkeys. Brown or black

Pantha. Black

Zebra. Black

Lion. Brown or black

Vulture. Socks are part of costume.

Make up for Tuesday will be applied in the morning starting at 10am. Elle Jennings will let you know if your name was on the roster. Carmen Atkinson will come at 11 and will be a great help.

I have made a decision not to worry about hair as the children have head coverings on some costumes or wigs which look good.

Stage dressers, I hope you don’t mind putting some plants, leaves etc together Tuesday morning just to make the stage more special!

Every little thing you do is always appreciated so much by us all but remember to really thank Tammi Miles and Sherylee Tutt for once again being at our disposal with costumes. These ladies are amazing at giving their time to your children.

Please send the children to school with a water bottle as the weather may be hot. Depending on the time it takes to do the make up on Tues will decide the time to be at school on Friday. We will let you know!

Please buy your tickets and encourage others to come, your children deserve a big audience. If you know any elderly or parents who can’t make the Friday performance, they are of course welcome on Tuesday.

We look forward to seeing you and hope you enjoy the show! The children have had a lot of input into this one and I think they have found it an enjoyable experience!

Don’t forget!! Supper on Friday is just for parents and students and helpers.

See you all soon,

Maureen Horrocks

Scitech Incursion - This Thursday the students will participate in an activity called 'Nature's Ninja's' ran by Scitech on Thursday. It should be a fun afternoon!

School Disco - Is on this Friday 20th November beginning at 6.30pm for our age group. Your child brought a note home about this last week...check their bag if you haven't been given it already. Tickets can be purchased at
