Term 3 Week 5 Update

How incredible were the students on Saturday night! I was super proud of the way they conducted themselves and the reverence they displayed on the night. Hopefully they will cherish the special memories they created together for a long while. The beaming smiles after mass, made all the hard work completely worth it!
Thank you to you all for putting in so much effort to be there and support your child through this important time.
So here's to the week ahead...I am very excited to sink my teeth into some rich learning tasks.
A highlight this week will be the development of our study on the elements of Shaun Tan's picture books: The Lost Thing and The Rabbits. We will incorporate this into our writing genre of persuasive texts. The students will learn the importance of strong emotive language and high modality vocabulary when writing an advertisement for their NEW Lost Thing.
Stationary
REMINDERS - WEEK 5
Stationary
I know I have written about this in a recent blog, but it has become blaringly evident in our class that there are many people without the correct stationary as they are constantly borrowing from others. This is causing a problem, as people are moving around the class unnecessarily, taking longer to organise themselves, wasting important learning time. I have also noticed a lot of students using pretty coloured gel pens instead of a blue pen to write with. Can you please ensure your child has a blue pen to use in their writing, as the gel pens are not suitable.
Feast Day
Feast Day
OLC celebrated our Feast Day on Saturday 15th August...the Feast of the Assumption. Traditionally, we would have had a whole school mass and then our Mission Markets to celebrate this special day for our school. With restrictions still in place, Mrs Meyer has notified us that we will be having our celebration for this day on Thursday of Week 10, our last day of school for Term 3. Further information will follow in the coming weeks.
