Week 2 Term 3

Good afternoon parents,

Well...now that's how to start a term! Camp did not disappoint, we were left shattered but boy we had fun. And when I didn't think it was possible for this class to get any closer, we managed to strengthened the bonds we had already formed and pushed ourselves outside our paradigm, challenging ourselves and ignoring those negative thoughts that often take over.

All students have been shown the link on OneNote to access the photos taken by the teachers at camp. Please ask them to show you, so you can peruse the images taken.

I am sorry there is no learning update in this blog...we have began our new units, however there are some important messages that need to get to you NOW...so I promise next week a full update on our learning.

REMINDERS - WEEK 2

IMPORTANT: PARENT/CHILD CONFIRMATION WORKSHOP
Tomorrow night (Tuesday 28th July) we will be holding our Confirmation Workshop in the hall at 5.30pm. If your child is receiving their Confirmation, you and your child are required to attend this workshop. In this workshop we will explore the sacrament further and discuss the important elements and how you and your child can apply this within your life. Prayer buddies are most welcome to join us, however it is not compulsory that the prayer buddies attend.

PARENT LETTER
It is getting closer to our Retreat Day and your child's letter is almost due back. In last weeks blog, I discussed that EVERY child will receive a letter from their parents to read and reflect upon. Please see the previous blog about the letter requirements and further suggestions. There is now only 11 more days to get it back to me. Please ensure they are all handed in by FRIDAY 7th AUGUST!!

IMPORTANT: RECONCILIATION & CONFIRMATION COMMITMENT MASS
This Friday 31st July, all year 3 & 6 students will be attending a Reconciliation and Confirmation Commitment Mass in the hall at 10am. Where possible, for those receiving Confirmation, parents are required to attend and sit with their child during this mass. If you are unable to make it this Friday, you will need to attend another mass on one of the other weekends leading up to Confirmation. On this occasion, please see Father Francis before the mass to inform him that you are their for the Sacrament Commitment, this way he can carryout the blessing with the congregation.

CROSS COUNTRY
Is on this Thursday 30th July at Bunbury Grammar. Please check Mrs Sinclair's note for details on departure times and any items needed. There is a training session tomorrow morning at 7.50am on the school oval.

EXERCISE BOOKS
Please ensure you send in two new exercise books, as most of our Writing and Math's books are full and ready to come home.

MR LEE
Please also keep Mr Lee in your thoughts as he recovers. He is very much missed and we hope that he is well enough to be back at school soon!

HOMEWORK - WEEK 2

We have started homework again and are really buckling down this term in preparation for high school, which is fast approaching! Please make sure you are signing their Learning Grids and diaries each week to ensure they are keeping themselves organised.

You may also notice that their workload may increase slightly, as I don't want the expectations of next year to be a rude shock when they arrive to Term 1 2021!

Homework for this week includes:
  • Spelling - 2 Spelling activities - Rainbow words and Hard/Easy Sort & Soundwave games on the remaining nights.
  • Times tables practice - 6&7's
  • Reading - out loud 20 minutes each night (titles to be written into their diaries)
  • Choice tasks - students are to complete 3 different activities from the bottom section of their grid. If you have any suggestions or ideas on different areas you need help in, please let me know.
  • Additional Homework- Camp Memory Wheels - the students have had 4x1 hour long sessions to finish this task. It is now homework and due Friday 31st July. Here are two excellent examples:

Have a great week!
